CLIFF™ Electronics expands space-saving range of USB data sockets
CLIFF™ Electronics announces an extension to its range of space-saving, digital XLR connectors. Mounted in an industry-standard XLR shell, the Cliff™ digital XLR range offers a highly efficient use of panel space and the manufacturing convenience of making the same panel cut-out for all analogue analog and digital connectors.
USB data connections to audio, broadcast, AV (audio-visual), lighting controllers, instrumentation and industrial equipment is becoming more common. Digital signal and control options are increasing and more information needs to be transferred between portable equipment, smart phones, tablets and other data storage devices which can also be powered or charged while connected.
The previous introduction of the unique Cliff™ dual USB2 connector provides two isolated, independent, fully USB-compliant sockets in a single, space-saving, XLR receptacle. Signal output pins are configured to facilitate either direct soldered PCB mounting or connection by header cable. CLIFF™ Electronics is happy to provide customers with standard or custom-designed header cables to meet individual system requirements. This connector has generated a demand for further variants.
Our new USB2 A / B changer, feed-through sockets are now available as either A-to-B, or B-to-A versions. The XLR housings are constructed from rugged zinc-nickel metal which fit the universally popular, 23.6 mm diameter, XLR panel cut-outs. These connectors can be mounted at the rear or front of a panel.
The XLR connector style body shell was selected by Cliff™ as it is widely used in the audio and broadcast industries. It is an industry standard panel cut-out and offers maximum panel mounting density to system designers. Cliff™ will soon be offering additional versions of these USB XLR sockets.
